In keeping with ISME tradition, no scientific sessions will be scheduled on Wednesday 15 August 2018. Participants will be free to take advantage of the many leisure opportunities in and around Leipzig.
From Sunday 12 August to Tuesday 14 August afternoon, you can sign up for the tours below. There will be a tour desk in the registration area of ISME17 of the CCL, from Sunday - Tuesday.
1. City tour Leipzig (15.08.18, 15.00 - 17.30 h)
Enjoy a combined bus and walking tour to to see the highlights of Leipzig. The Monument to the Battle of the Nations, Gohlis Palace, trendy
neighborhoods - the bus tour will give an excellent overview of the city. Afterwards you explore the city’s sights such as St. Thomas’ Church, the Bach Monument, St. Nicholas’ Church, the Old Town Hall, the Leipzig Gewandhaus and Mädlerpassage with Auerbachs Keller. You will meet Johann Sebastian Bach, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and other famous citizens of Leipzig along the way and also learn more about the Peaceful Revolution, the Leipzig Music Trail and the world famous Thomanerchor.

2. Bike tour around Leipzig (15.08.18, 15.00 - 18.00 h)
This is a new way to explore our city - sporty and informative. You will see all the important sights, beautiful architecture as well as our
stadium “Red Bull Arena” and the Monument of the Battle of Nations. You can use rental bikes, an experienced guide will show you the best
places of the city. This tour is also perfect to discover the green oases in the heart of the city. Leipzig is well known for its green routes that
head out from the city centre in all directions through spacious parks and floodplains.

3. Leipzig - city on the water (15.08.18, 15.00 - 17.30 h)
On Leipzig’s waterways, your guests can get to know the city from an entirely different side, exploring it by motor boat or canoe. A boat tour
starting in the city port will take you through the idyllic Auwald forest and past impressive villas and residential buildings. Restored industrial
complexes that today house lofts are a fascinating highlight of the tour.

4. Day trip - Excursion to Dresden (15.08.19, 09.00 - 18.00 h)
The capital of the province of Saxony is well known as “Baroque Pearl on the river Elbe” and offers a great variety of different sights. For example the Zwinger, the Semper Opera and the Frauenkirche. After a guided city tour and a lunch break you will have time to discover the city on your own. Visit one of the world famous museums or just stroll through the historical city centre.
