The proposed project aims to characterize interspecies quorum sensing in the rhizosphere. Two thirds of the project will focus on characterization of rhizosphere bacteria using metagenomic and metatranscriptomic methods, and one third on chemical characterization of biomolecules in the rhizosphere.
We are seeking a recent Ph.D. with training in microbial ecology, molecular-plant-microbe interactions, or a closely related field. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in bacterial culture, metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, and various sequencing platforms, as well as small molecule characterization using mass spectrometry.
The candidate should demonstrate enthusiasm for the project, a willingness to learn, a commitment to work cooperatively, and must be able to work independently and part of a team and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. A significant record of productivity as demonstrated through refereed publications is preferred.

This position is funded by the Louis A. Magnarelli postdoctoral fellowship for two years. The starting salary is $51,622/yr with competitive medical and dental benefits.
