Do you want to help make urban agriculture more circular and contribute to food security and reduced greenhouse gas emissions?

Do you want to help make urban agriculture more circular and contribute to food security and reduced greenhouse gas emissions? The Microbial Ecology Laboratories (www.microbialecology.ca) are seeking two postdoctoral researchers to analyse metagenomic and metatranscriptomic data related to an urban agriculture circular economy cluster. The successful candidates will integrate a dynamic, gender-balanced and diversified team of led by Prof. Étienne Yergeau, at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique located a stone's throw away from the fantastic city of Montréal. The project will be part of a larger Genome Canada-funded multidisciplinary project aiming at reducing greenhouse gas emissions through a urban circular agriculture (https://genomecanada.ca/project/omics-to-close-the-loop-optimized-amendment-from-local-agri-food-waste-for-carbon-footprint-reduction/). This cluster upcycles wastes into value-added insect or fungal proteins, while producing fertilizing material. Microorganisms are key players across each step of this loop, and the role of the selected candidate will be to characterize, model, and optimize this microbiota using omics tools.
