The Lankau research group at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is searching for a post-doctoral scholar to join our research team investigating the microbial ecology of agricultural soils. The post-doctoral scholar would contribute to several projects seeking to predict crop yield and disease outcomes based on knowledge of soil microbial community structure. Beyond the applied goals, this position offers numerous opportunities to address fundamental questions about linkages between microbial community composition, diversity, and ecosystem functions. We are seeking applicants with interests and experience in plant and microbial ecology, soil science, and cutting-edge data science as well as a passion for linking fundamental biological questions with practical outcomes for sustainable agriculture.

Applicants should have a PhD in ecology, microbiology, soil science, agronomy, or related fields, excellent written and oral communication skills, quantitative and analytical skills, and a track record of first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Funding is available for two years with extension for a second year depending on satisfactory performance. Salary is set at $47,500/year and includes health and other benefits.

To apply, please send a cover letter describing your interest in the position and a CV to lankau@wisc.edu
