A post-doctoral position is available to explore microbial interactions with dissolved organic matter in the Western Sargasso Sea.

A post-doctoral scholar position is available in the Department of Microbiology, Oregon State University, for research with the interdisciplinary BIOSSCOPE team supported by Simons Foundation International to explore microbial interactions with dissolved organic matter in the Western Sargasso Sea. We are looking for scientists with experience and a record of publications in some combination of the following: marine microbial genomics, metagenomics, proteomics, biochemistry, and environmental chemistry. Potential projects include bioinformatics analyses of genomic and metagenomic data, cell culturing, and mass spectrometry/metabolomics studies aimed at understanding microbial interactions with organic matter in the oceans. Successful applicants will be expected to participate in oceanographic cruises and travel to Bermuda for research with a collaborative scientific team.
