The project will explore the impacts and roles of microbes in hemp germination. This will include work in conventional microbiology, microbial genomics and metagenomics related to the seed microbiome. Experience with these techniques is not required, but would be a plus. The incumbent will be part of the University of Kentucky Integrated Plant and Soil Sciences graduate program, and will have the opportunity to interact with researchers across campus interested in seed biology, environmental microbiology, and hemp research.
The position is available starting in August 2024 and comes with a competitive stipend, tuition, and benefits including health insurance. Funding is available for up to 5 years.
